TRIP OUTLINE
Spend the first night at a comfortable hotel and the second night at the private homestay, with basic comfort. The first day is a warm-up trek which is a good introduction to the climate and the jungle. The second and third days are more "adventurous" as we hike up the mountain slopes and experience a night in a local homestay located in the highlands at a 1000 meters altitude. This trip is suitable for families with children with hiking experience, but still considered somewhat challenging. Participants in search of adventure, beautiful nature, scenic vistas, and cultural experiences, will enjoy this well organized trek.
TRIP CODE: 03-501
Departure/return: Chiang Mai
Trip duration: 3 days/2 nights

PROGRAM
Day 1: jungle hike and Sticky Waterfall visit
From Chiang Mai city, we’ll bring you to the Mae Taeng valley, where you will enjoy a short two hours guided jungle hike in the forest. Get all the insights and secrets of the jungle from your knowledgeable guide. Pack lunch in the forest, depending of the season/trails. After lunch, we drive to the waterfalls. Next, we’ll explore the nearby Buatong waterfall. Spend time at the refreshing waterfall. The Buatong waterfall is also known as “the sticky waterfall” due to the limestone deposits on the fall, which allows people to climb under the water. Short drive to the hotel in the nearby valley, check-in and relax.
Tonight enjoy a set dinner of northern specialties.
(Meals: Lunch, Dinner)
Day 2: Hiking the Tea trails
Enjoy a delicious breakfast in the garden and get ready for the trip.
We’ll depart at 9am for a short transfer to the trek departure point.
This trail is mostly ascending as we are aiming at the mountain top village.
Hike 3 hours gaining altitude as we observe a noticeable change of flora. A mountain village is our first destination and our lunch place. Visite the village, passing by the school, and hike through tea plantations under the shade of tall mature trees. Eventually arriving at the local home-stay where we spend the night. Your guides will cook a tasty Thai dinner followed by the evening to relax and soak up your new surroundings.
Today’s hike is approximately 4 hours, mostly ascending. (The trek starting point is 400m alt. and the overnight is 1000m alt.)
(Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 3: Trek and transfer back to Chiang Mai
Wake up to the mountain melodies and enjoy breakfast with locally grown tea or coffee from the surrounding plantations. Today you are in for a challenging morning through a variety of forestry trails. We follow mountain ridges under the jungle canopy, with occasional clearings offering breathtaking panoramic views of the lower valley. At a given time, we’ll refuel with a packed lunch eaten along the trail, or depending on the pace, at a local restaurant.
Drive down the valley, and if you wish, make a last stop to visit the impressive Wat Ban Den temple. Drive back to Chiang Mai (one hour) and drop off at your hotel or airport.
Today’s hike is approximately 3 to 4 hours.
(Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)

Yes, we do provide sleeping bags and/or blankets, small pillows, and you'll sleep under mosquito nets. It's fairly rustic accomodation to any western standards. Bathrooms are outside the main house and there is no hot water. Please bring your own towel (synthetic fabric towels). It's definitely an amazing experience.
Yes, during the cold season (November to end of February) nights can get chilli in altitude. Bring a fleece and some long pants for the night. A full packing list and season information will be sent to you after your trip registration.
Snakes encounter: this could happen. We had a few clients that spotted snakes in the past, and the most impressive was a 2 meters long King Cobra. It's a jungle out there! Your guide will certainly spot the snakes before you, leading the way, and will give you all the advices and information needed.
Trekking poles. You can bring your own, but we do have some poles available, for participants to borrow. Ask your guide on the first day.
